Let the Adventure Begin!
about 3 years ago – Sun, Jan 03, 2021 at 05:01:43 PM

With the sun setting on 2020, an adventure begins for each of you. I want to thank you again for giving us this opportunity to let our inspirations thrive, to create something new and share it with the world, and for joining us on every step of this journey.

Many of you loved this concept so much that you supported us with no prior experience or reviews of this game. There is probably no other game that takes a full year to play before a comprehensive review may come out. If you have any questions about gameplay or rules, problems with any scenarios or hero abilities, or spot horrendous mistakes, a great place to post those is on Board Game Geek on the game's page.

The New Year is always a time to reflect on improvements. We plan to make many changes already. For example, we want to include all holidays that are important to you.  Give us your feedback on holidays you want added to the Calendar. (wish we thought of this for 2021) What other improvements would you like to see? Let us know your ideas.

We will post an update again in March when we launch the next Quest Calendar for 2022!

I hope 2021 will be a better year for all of you. Best Wishes,

Thomas Bedran

Shipping Troubles with USPS
over 3 years ago – Fri, Dec 18, 2020 at 01:05:28 PM

USPS Troubles

There are about 70 backers with orders that went out some time ago and you have not yet received your packages. Shipments were sent with USPS Priority Mail with an expected delivery of 1 to 3 days.

There are horrendous delays in USPS shipments due to the Holidays & Covid. Several members of the USPS have told me that they are sure packages will arrive by Christmas. I continue to see some slow progress to orders. So, I remain hopeful.

If you are concerned about your delivery, here are some steps you should consider taking:

1. Check your tracking. Tracking numbers were sent out when you package was shipped. This will let you know when your item was shipped and the status of it.

2. File a help claim:  https://usps.force.com/emailus/s/

Click the "Where is my package? " icon. Here is some info you will need for this request:

  • Sender Address: 4217 Alder Springs View, Colorado Springs, CO, 80922 (Residential)
  • Type of Mail: Package
  • Class of Mail: Priority Mail
  • Special Service: None

3. After 7 days of filing the Help Request, file a Missing Mail Search Claim: https://missingmail.usps.com/

You will need to log into the USPS website to do this. You will be required to create an account.

4. Continue to wait.

Christmas is still a ways out. I am seeing some progress being made on orders still. I remain hopeful that packages will be delivered. I just don't know when.

5. Request us to File a Claim

If your mail is indeed missing (after filing the Missing Mail Search Claim) and the package has not arrived after 15 days from when it was shipped (check for this in the tracking info), and you want us to ship you another, send us an email ([email protected]). We will file a claim for a lost package with the USPS and ship out another. We have limited stock available to do this for everyone. Please consider this as a last option.

An option for delayed gifts

We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience with USPS deliveries. Some of you may not get your packages in time to give as gifts for the holiday. We are working with USPS to try to resolve these issues. If you were intending to give these out as gifts for Christmas and you haven't received it yet, here is an option:

Print out the following picture of the 2021 Quest Calendar. Put it in an envelope for the intended recipient to open. It is not ideal, but at the least, there is something to open on Christmas.

Remember to send all inquiries to [email protected]

Shipping, Wizard, Print n Play
over 3 years ago – Mon, Dec 07, 2020 at 01:53:06 AM

Before I get started with the update, has anyone started playing yet? Anyone finished it? I am just curious if anyone has disregarded this as a calendar completely and just played the adventure. Let me know. I would like your feedback.

Shipping Progress

We have finished shipping orders to all US backers (that have completed their survey) if you haven't received a tracking number, check your spam folder. Also, you could be one of the 21 people that never completed the survey. There is still time to do so. Lost yours? Go to: https://2021-quest-calendar.backerkit.com/

Lost and Damaged Orders

As you are getting your Quest Calendar, look over your contents, if there are any items missing or damaged, send an email to [email protected].

USPS is already reporting that they are backed up due to normal holiday traffic and the pandemic. This is affecting some of you. Here are some links to the USPS site that may be helpful: Where is my package?, Delays, Missing Mail, Submit a Request. If you submit a request, here is some info you will need to know:

  • Sender Address: 4217 Alder Springs View, Colorado Springs, CO, 80922 (Residential)
  • Type of Mail: Package
  • Class of Mail: Priority Mail
  • Special Service: None

We have noticed some packages report that they haven't been "Accepted". This means that there is only a record of a label getting created and they haven't received or scanned anything. I assure you we sent out all packages. Send us an email to let us know what is going on: [email protected]. If we have to take the loss and resend your items, we will do so.

International Backers

Fulfillment will be done by GamesQuest/Shipquest for all non-US backers and pre-orders. They are still getting this scheduled but have assured me that you will receive the items before Christmas. Sorry for the delay in this. I am sure you are as anxious to receive these items as I am to get them to you.

Last Chance Shopping

After we take inventory, we will open up the store one last time for anyone that wants to purchase. We will have a very limited quantity. Orders will be sent via priority mail in the US and you should receive them before Christmas.

We expect to open up the store this week. Let your friends and family know. They can sign up to get notified at sundialgames.com/signup

Wizard Levels?

Now that many have a physical copy of the Hero Book, I have been getting lots of questions about the Wizard. Mostly, why does he only have only 1 level sheet? Is this a misprint, faulty, or intended. Here is the answer:

This is intended. For a brief couple weeks in the beginning (Jan 1 - 14), you will play as the level 6 wizard. This is a sort of introduction/prologue. After that, you will be presented with the main characters to pick from and use for the remainder of the year.

Print and Play

Emails for the Print and Play went out on Nov 13th. If you didn't receive yours, check your spam folder. The email came from BackerKit with a subject of "New Digital Content for 2021 Quest Calendar: A Year of Adventure on BackerKit". You can also find the code in your BackerKit link/survey. Lost yours? Go to: https://2021-quest-calendar.backerkit.com/

Jarrod Olson put together a great DIY Calendar using a 3d printed holder, notepad padding compound, and a modified version of the PDF. Instructions with pictures along with the modified PDF are found in the file "2021calendarDIY.zip". This file is now available on the itch.io page with the Print and Play PDF. This is a great alternative for getting a printed calendar for yourself and friends.

Thank you for this, Jarrod. Awesome work!

Our Thanksgiving week went like this:

We kicked off the weekend with the Local Pickup event. I really enjoyed getting to meet many of you. Thanks again for your understanding with the dice.

Then we got to shipping. I can't thank my pregnant wife enough for the help and time she put in to assist me in getting these Quest Calendars out to you. This is how we spent our Thanksgiving week and what our garage fulfillment center looked like. Our mailman was shocked to see this and took pictures himself.

Our beer pong table serves many purposes.

Custom Characters

We still have a few custom characters to finish. We are working on those and will update the site as we complete each one. Sorry this is taking so long.

Locking your shipping address!

This is it! We’re finally getting ready to ship!

We will be locking shipping addresses soon. That means you have 1 week to update your shipping address in your BackerKit survey.

If you need to review your shipping address, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at https://2021-quest-calendar.backerkit.com.

If you haven’t answered your survey yet, you can still fill it out to get your rewards, but your shipment may be delayed.

We’re currently aiming to ship rewards suring the week of Thanksgiving. If you need to change your shipping address, please make the changes in your BackerKit survey in the next week.

Custom Characters

We had a backer option to create a custom character. We got a few takers and wanted to show off some of the characters. There are still 2 more that are coming.

Warlock, Monk, Inquisitor, Fighter, Eldritch Knight

The official character sheets are still being finalized. Once they are complete, they will be available for download on the character page of the sundialgames.com website

Hero Book (Laminated Character Sheets)

We wanted to feature this companion book and talk about it a bit. The Calendar can be played without this book. The character sheets are all available for printing. However, this book really takes it up a notch. All the pages are laminated so they can be written on with a dry or wet erase marker. It makes keeping track of stat changes, health and damage, and uses of abilities much easier.

Piles of the Hero Book

Errata

And for some Friday the 13th appropriate news...

We are still finding errors in the content we created. We have an Errata page on BBG to clarify corrections. The most recent is a printing mistake we never caught on the Hero Book. All the Thief pages say the 'Stealthy' ability applies a +2 bonus to Survival rolls. It should say 'Stealth" rolls. We are so sorry for these.

This is our first project and we had such a tight deadline. (I'm not making excuses here, just explaining the factors that played a role in our mistakes.)  We will use these as lessons learned for the future.

Things like this really bother us. If it bothers you enough that you wish for a refund, please contact us so we can work with you to make you happy.
