Just a short update.

Locking Orders

Please complete your surveys. Lets us know if you need your link resent to you.

We will be locking orders on Friday, August 21 so that we can get final counts to the manufacturers. We will not be taking orders after this.

If you wish to make changes to your order, such as adding some more dice or the Character Book? Do so before Aug 21. Have friends and family that wish to order a 2021 Quest Calendar? Please have them do so before August 21.

We will verify shipping addresses at a later date.

Local Pickup

With the current COVID restrictions in place, we are still confident in being able to do a local pickup option in Colorado Springs. To select this option:

If you haven't filled out your survey, choose your region on the first page of your survey as "Local Pickup".

The Dragon Staff of Maladoria - A 2021 Quest Calendar

In Maladoria's capital city of West Haven, the court wizard and his apprentice have gone missing.  A new adventurer seeks them out and discovers a mysterious slime that has spread across the city. It corrupts everything it touches and mutated rats in the city's sewers. The church has shut down due to missing clergymen. Is this slime connected to the church? Is it somehow connected to the missing wizard?

Become the hero. Choose your character and go on quests, find treasure, and battle monsters across Maladoria. Can you find the missing wizard, uncover the plot behind this mysterious slime, and find ancient objects to help stop an evil plot to conquer Maladoria? Enjoy as the story unfolds in this adventure-a-day desktop calendar.

How does that sound?

All stories need a title. We will use this one in case there is a demand to reprint this story in future years.

Almost Done

The calendar is almost finished. We are still on track to deliver in time for you to give it as Christmas presents. We are almost done playtesting and are sending it to the manufacturers in a few weeks. We are so excited, proud, and nervous.

Backer Surveys

There are still about 5% of backers that haven't completed their pledge survey. If you are one of these, please go and complete your survey so we can lock all orders. Message us if you need a new survey link. We want to make sure you get your Quest Calendar!

Dice Colors

We have a personal dilemma in that we can't decide what colors we want the dice to be. Help us out with this survey.

Coming Up

Once the calendar is sent off for printing, we will have the character sheets available to preview via download on the Sundial Games website (link to follow).

Custom Characters

For the few of you that are getting custom characters, we will reach out to you towards the end of this month. We will have a survey to help sort out some details and get you thinking about your characters. We also want the existing playable characters available to you so you can help align your character idea to some exiting skills and abilities.

Featured Artist

Today we feature artwork from the talented Ellen May.

Progress Update, Info from Preview, Artist Preview
almost 4 years ago – Sun, Jul 12, 2020 at 01:25:25 PM

We wanted to give everyone an update and let you know that we are working hard to finish up the calendar pages and art this month. So we are in crunch mode putting in extra hours to meet our deadline. This is our top focus right now and paramount to getting the Quest Calendar done in time for you to play on Jan 1st.

Play Through

Last update, we released a preview of the Quest Calendar. We got some fantastic feedback that we are taking to heart. We are using your opinions to update the Quest Calendar and make it better. We will have some rules changes and clarifications for sure, but most important will be a focus on clarifying how combat works. We feel that no matter how well it could be written, a video will work best. So sometime in the future, we will record a video to show some examples of how to play through combat.

Here are some other interesting stats:

  • Of the 5 point scale, it has a rating of 4.38 so far and that warms our hearts 😍
  • The most popular character to play is the Thief, Astrid Swiftblade.
  • The least popular character to play is the Bard, Lyric Stringwood
  • 10% of people have died during this first mission.
  • The favored day is the sewer maze on Jan 18th.

Continue to play through the preview and give us feedback

Artist Previews

We started out with one artist, Jay French, to do the calendar and lead the character design. Since getting funded we have picked up over a dozen others in order to finish up the art work in time. We wanted to showcase some pieces from the other artists as previews for the Quest Calendar. Here is a piece by the talented Mariia Borysenko:

A bridge troll surprises the hero.

Coming Up

Once the calendar content is done, we will release some exciting updates that include:

  • More Artist Previews
  • Calendar name
  • Production samples
  • Full character sheets

Reminders

Remember to finish filling out your backer surveys and direct your friends and family to the Pre-Order Store. If you need us to resend you a link to your backer survey, let us know.

Surveys, Preview, Fantasy Dates, Death
almost 4 years ago – Thu, Jun 18, 2020 at 11:39:16 PM

Surveys

As of writing this, we are almost at 90% completion for the backer surveys. We still have time until we lock orders, but help us check this off the list if you haven't already.

Fill out your backer survey and confirm your address.

Fantasy Dates

The first stretch goal was adding a feature that I thought could make the Quest Calendar more immersive and be a helpful tool outside of the game. I have never done well at conveying days and seasons in my tabletop rpg games. So I built into the Quest Calendar a home brew date system based off the Gregorian calendar that we all use. My hope is that through the similar naming scheme and routine exposure, you can easily hear a fantasy date and translate it easily.

Head over to this post to see what we created.

Death

We also posted an update to the rules on Death. After some feedback and lots of curiosity on what happens when you die, we added depth the this mechanic. We feel this will raise the stakes for those wanting more of a challenge, and add variety for anyone finding themselves always rolling low. When you die, you could suffer harsher penalties determined at the roll of a die.

Head over to this post to check out the rules.

Preview

Following the link below, you can find yourself a preview of the first couple weeks of the 2021 Quest Calendar. You can read about the heroes and do a play through. If you are unsure about which hero you want to pick next year, you can try them each out and decide. As a suggestion for your first play through, try to do just one per day.

Head over to this page to check out the preview.

This is also a chance for you to offer feedback. We welcome all constructive criticism. We may cry at negativity but don't let that stop you from helping to make this product better. So here is a survey to channel that magical energy:

After you try the preview, give us some feedback.
