Latest Updates from Our Project:

We'll be back!
about 4 years ago – Tue, Apr 14, 2020 at 10:46:52 AM

As a first Kickstarter project for myself and Sundial Games, I am amazed to see all your support in helping come this far.  There are a LOT of you that believe in us and this project.

However, we must face the likelihood that we are not getting funded. But that is Okay!

After seeing the excitement grow over the last month, I know that we have found a product that others are excited to play as much as we enjoy creating. I want to reassure you that we will move forward with development and relaunch the Quest Calendar at a later date. But what will we do different next time?

  • We will start a Development blog so you can get inside information on the creation of the Quest Calendar as it happens. See more detail on the characters, the plot, and key pieces of artwork as we release them.
  • Get insight from the community on key aspects that matter to you most. We have already gotten valuable feedback on the characters and shipping information. Keep it coming by taking a moment to fill out this survey.
  •  Revisit our shipping rates. With more time, we hope to find cheaper shipping via a third party logistics company that can please our backers.
  • Invest more into our marketing campaign. Due to the strict deadline of a calendar project and our inexperience in crowdfunding, we were pressed to get the campaign launched and failed to get our project in front of others out there. Next time, we will have ample press releases and advertising.
  • Provide a sample print and play to test out. We want you to get an idea of the play mechanics and feeling of playing a part of a campaign a day. So next time, we will provide you with a short Print and Play to test it out. It will be a prologue to the upcoming story. And you will get it first if you are a part of our newsletter and Dev blog.

As a backer this time around, we want to give you a great deal when we relaunch. So stay a backer so we can notify you (you won't be charged unless the project gets funded), or better yet sign up for our newsletter and be a part of our developer blog as we write it. We promise not to spam you.

I hope you all are safe in every way. Good luck and stay in touch.

Thanks again!

Half Way There!
about 4 years ago – Thu, Apr 09, 2020 at 09:06:10 AM

I am amazed to see the support of all 370 backers so far that have helped us reach the 50% mark! There are a LOT of you that believe in us and this project. This is an amazing feeling.

I hope you all are safe in every way. Good luck and Thank you so much!

The Dice

I got to walk into a local game shop (before the quarantine) and witness a new D&D player pick out their very first set of dice. It was wonderful to witness and brought me back to the memory of my very first set as well.  Why is it so common that a table-top role play gamer has a collection of dice? I for one am guilty of this. My estimated count is around 40 sets.

I knew I would have to provide a set of dice for those that didn't already have some. And I knew that many would already have plenty of sets. So I wanted something unique. More than just getting them in the Sundial Games logo colors. Then I found the mini dice and I fell in love. I think you will too. They aren't that common and I don't know of another player that I game with that has a set like this.

What I want to ask you is, "What about the colors?" Are you okay with whatever we choose (likely the Sundial Games logo colors) or do you want to be able to pick from a range of colors and styles? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Covid-19  Concerns

Due to the Covid-19 virus, many manufacturing have slowed down and thus production and shipping are delayed for a lot of games and products around the world. This is also true for Kickstarter. A calendar is a very time critical product. So how are we handling this?

We aren't going to production until July/August and would likely know this before doing so. The print and play version would be unaffected. I currently have a couple options and am open to others if you have an idea. I was going to wait until project close to survey backers and let the backers decide.

Option A) Change the starting date of the printed calendar to the expected delivery date. Instead of running from Jan 1 - Dec 31, it could run from Mar 1, 2021 - Feb 28, 2022.

Option B) Release the Print & Play version on time so others can play from Jan 1 if they decide to do so. Ship the Calendars when they land and let players play catch up to the current day.

Picking up steam
about 4 years ago – Tue, Mar 31, 2020 at 11:21:31 PM

With 7k raised, 34% funded, and 242 backers... we are doing better than we were last week. We are ever more hopeful and we owe it all to you. A huge Thanks for Your Support thus far. Stay safe and healthy!

Local Pickup Option

If you are local to the Denver, Colorado Springs, or Pueblo area, we will host a local pickup event so you can pick up your copy for free. For those willing to drive to Colorado Springs, we will set up a time and a location at a local game shop so you can come get your Quest Calendar packages, meet the creator, and get your copy signed

You will be able to select this option in the pledge manager after the campaign ends.

The Setting

The setting for the 2021 Quest Calendar takes place in a realm I created for one of my first Dungeons & Dragons campaigns. The Crestfallen Empire contains the large city of West Haven, the small town of Ironfell, and roads to a few additional places that weren't on the original map. My players never made it out of this area to visit these other places :). The 2021 Quest Calendar will have players visiting many different areas on the continent of Maladoria. The full map will be released later. Here is a close up of the starting city and town you will be traveling to.

This map was created with the Wonderdraft tool.

Over 10% and 100 backers!
about 4 years ago – Wed, Mar 25, 2020 at 11:17:09 PM

We passed the 10% mark and we have 100 backers! A huge Thank You for your support thus far.

Slow Progress

Some of you may be thinking, "This is a slow crawl to the funding goal and we might not make it." As a creator who obsessively checks the numbers every hour, I understand that. I am always hopeful that things will pick up, so we are investing more into our marketing efforts. But I am realistic as well, so we are also putting together plans if the funding goal is not met. We will share those plans closer to the end of the campaign if we need to.

In the meantime, I encourage everyone to share this project with your friends. Post links across your social spheres on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc. Every bit helps.

Custom Character

One of the higher tier options with this calendar is the ability to get a customer character made. You can describe your hero, including their class type, and send in your photos to have your hero drawn in your likeness. For a new class, we will work with you to design some custom stats, skills, and abilities. This is what I have done for our upcoming Bard.

Out of the Gate!
about 4 years ago – Thu, Mar 19, 2020 at 08:35:07 PM

Just crossed $1000

First and foremost, a big "Thank You" to each one of you that has pledged to support this project. You really mean a lot to me and I hope you are doing well in the midst of the epidemic.

Whats Coming?

Map of the land:  Want to know more of the setting and the world you will adventure through? Look for a future post on the starting cities and surrounding landscape.

Hero Profiles: I will be releasing information about each hero so you can get more details and what their class abilities and combat stats are. First up is the Barbarian: Thudak, The Merciless.

Funding Breakdown: A question was asked about the funding goal and why it is set at 21k. I added a breakdown graph to explain where the funds are allocated.

Need Your Help

You are already awesome for supporting, but we still have a long way to go to reach our goal. Now is the time to reach out to your friends and share your excitement on social medial. Please post links to this project and help get the word out.
