Latest Updates from Our Project:

Changes for Inclusion
about 4 years ago – Thu, Apr 23, 2020 at 11:31:18 AM

Within days of first launching the 2021 Quest Calendar, I got some comments about the heroes that are available.

Some were about the number of males to females, the appearance of the women, and there were other comments about the skin color of the heroes.

With only 4 at the time, they were predominantly white or light skin. I did agree that this could exclude many and wanted to have a more diverse selection for others to choose from. Once we unlocked the Paladin, we got a darker skinned character of a nondescript origin.

I still felt like we could do better. So, I worked with my artist to make changes for our Druid. I hope this is suitable and more inclusive for others.

These subjects can be delicate for others. If you choose to leave a comment, please be respectful.

The Bard is unlocked! Dice. And more...
about 4 years ago – Thu, Apr 23, 2020 at 09:11:25 AM

Wow, you guys did it again and I am ecstatic that we smashed through another Stretch Goal to unlock the Bard, and we are well on our way to getting the next.

Unlike the Paladin, the bard is already named. Introducing: Lyric Stringwood.

This was also an example of how we can do a personal character for you. Should you choose that tier, you can describe your hero, including their class type, and send in your photos to have your hero drawn in your likeness. For a new class, we will work with you to design some custom stats, skills, and abilities.

Here is a sample of the progression for how I became Lyric Stringwood:

I want to let you in on a little personal secret, if my wife and I have another boy (not in the works yet), I am going to argue that we name him, Lyric. 😃

Dice

The next stretch goal is to get some pretty dice. I believe solid dice will still be a great addition to your game, but I wanted to spice them up a bit with a multicolored swirl. The colors pictured are not the final, but the design is similar. These will still be MINI dice.

Some of you suggested rather awesome dice improvements that I wish I could deliver on.  If you are a dice collector like me, and I suspect a few of you are, then you may want something unique (made of metal, obsidian, etc.) While that will be beyond the scope of this project, you might consider backing these great folks:

We have one more stretch goal left that we wish to release, but it is still being planned. More to come!

2nd Stretch Goal, "The Paladin", has been unlocked!
about 4 years ago – Mon, Apr 20, 2020 at 09:26:53 PM

Do I say thank you enough?

The Paladin was unlocked!

Naming the Paladin

The Paladin does not yet have a name. Someone suggested that I let the community offer suggestions and then vote. I like this and say, "Let the suggestions come in!" Comment below to offer naming suggestions.

The voting will take place later through the blog.  We will release a survey and let others vote on a name.

So sign up and stay tuned!

The next stretch goals:

This goal is so close as I write this. At 35k, I will add the last character: the Bard. This one is a personal favorite because I love to play a Bard in my table-top RPGs. That might be why he looks a lot like me. This ones does have a name: Lyric Stringwood.

At 40k, I will upgrade the dice from a solid color (though still pretty) to an appealing swirl of colors. The dice colors are still in the works, but instead of a solid color, they will a nice galaxy swirl pattern similar to the one in the promo shot. The dice included will still be mini dice, though! Here is and example of what they will look like (dice tray only included in Deluxe versions). I think they are beautiful. How about you?

final dice colors are subject to change

Still researching the exact detail for the next tier. I think it will be a great surprise.

First Stretch Goal Unlocked!
about 4 years ago – Fri, Apr 17, 2020 at 10:58:17 PM

We have come so far in the last few days. From the brink of an unfunded campaign to hitting the first stretch goal. Did I mention you guys are amazing?

So now it is time for some reveals...

 Celebrate!

With this funding level, I will add a homebrew date system that translates to the Gregorian calendar (the one we use).  As you play daily, you will get familiar with it and be able to use it easily in your own tabletop RPGs.

So far we have a Thief, Druid, Sorceress, and Barbarian. Once we reach 30k, I will be able to create a new character for you to play: a Paladin.

Once we reach 35k, I will be able to create a new character for you to play: the Bard. Yes his image was based off the creator of Quest Calendar himself.

Here is a closer look at our Paladin (yet to be named).

You did it!

Imagine going to bed with 10% left to reach and less than 24 hours to go. We were so close that I frantically sent out a request for an extension after a backer informed me that Kickstarter was granting extensions due to COVID-19. Thanks, Tom.

I was shocked to wake up to see the project at 100%! You guys worked overnight to pull this through! I say YOU because this was all on you to help bring this Quest Calendar to life.

I pondered the myriad of celebratory gifs to use here, but decided a simple, "Thank you". Mostly because I am still in shock!

It looks like we still got the extension, too. I am excited to see how far this gets!

Thanks, again. Hope you are all safe and healthy!
